In Luxembourg, nearly one in three of the active workforce is a foreigner and almost half of the working population are residents of our neighbouring countries. The country has a big expat community of foreigners that come to work and live in Luxembourg. We spoke to our colleague Simône van Schouwenburg about our Spuerkeess onboarding services for newcomers to Luxembourg.
Spuerkeess the ideal partner for the international community
In Luxembourg, nearly one in three of the active workforce is a foreigner and almost half of the working population are residents of our neighbouring countries. The country has a big expat community of foreigners that come to work and live in Luxembourg. We spoke to our colleague Simône van Schouwenburg about our Spuerkeess onboarding services for newcomers to Luxembourg.
Simône, can you introduce yourself and describe your role at Spuerkeess?
As a facilitator, I ensure a smooth and seamless transition for newcomers arriving in Luxembourg. My role consists in connecting key stakeholders (new arrivals, their companies, relocation services, expat partners) with the Spuerkeess network, while providing guidance on essential matters during their first days.
I also foster engagement within Luxembourg’s international community by organising events and networking opportunities, covering a wide range of relevant topics.
What specific services does Spuerkeess offer for newcomers?
We provide comprehensive onboarding services, including:
- Facilitating the opening of bank accounts prior to arrival.
- Enabling money transfers into the account.
- Ordering debit and credit cards ahead of time.
- Assisting with rental guarantees (“garanties locatives”).
We are connecting newcomers with our partners for additional services such as insurance, telecommunication, accommodation research, relocation services, private car lease and language courses. Our aim is to offer an expat guide with helpful tips about Luxembourg.
How does Spuerkeess help with the integration of newcomers into the community?
We offer various support services for integration, including connecting clients with social networks, organising social events for the international community. Furthermore, we host workshops and seminars for spouses, which address various topics such as “how to set up a business in Luxembourg”. We focus on family-oriented events and we sponsor activities organised by the Chambers of Commerce.
What is your primary goal when onboarding new arrivals?
Our primary aim is to allow newcomers to focus on their new jobs and to familiarise themselves with their new environment, while providing peace of mind through well-organised banking services and integration support.
Thank you, Simône, for sharing valuable insights on Spuerkeess and the onboarding services you provide to newcomers in Luxembourg.
